In this video is a series of test images shot on the Fujifilm GFX 100 and Atomos Ninja V HDR monitor-recorder in Apple ProRes RAW by cinematographer Jake Polonsky BSC. The Fujifilm GFX100 is a medium format camera with a state-of-the-art large format CMOS sensor sensor that delivers a distinctive look. Combined with the Atomos Ninja V and ProRes RAW recording it gives filmmakers a whole new way to shoot.
The video was commissioned to demonstrate the look of the camera system when using a variety of different lenses. These were new native Fujinon GF lenses, older PL mounted Cooke S2 cine lenses and an adapted vintage Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.2 stills lens. There is some vignetting on some shots with the Cooke S2 lenses where the image circle does not quite cover the sensor. These have been purposely left in to demonstrate the sensor coverage that can be expected from similar glass.
The GFX100 will output up to 4Kp30 RAW video over HDMI to the Ninja V HDR monitor-recorder, which is recorded 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW for maximum latitude in post production. The GFX100 and Ninja V will gain the ability to record Apple ProRes RAW at up to 4Kp30 via firmware update 2.00 from Fujifilm and a free AtomOS update from Atomos in July 2020.
